Technology in the Classroom

I believe that technology in the classroom can be beneficial if used properly. Technology should be used to enhance learning, not to accompany lessons.

This video shows exactly how technology can be used to enhance a lesson. For this lesson, students first read the story "I Need my Monster" by Amanda Noll. We discussed the differences between the monsters in the story. Students were then asked to draw their own monster, and to describe it in a journal entry. The were then asked to read their entry while I recorded their voice and picture using the ChatterPix app. click above for the result.

Coding Day

Coding Day started in early 2018 as a way to bring programming experience into our elementary classrooms. Every second Thursday of the month, all classes from Kindergarten to 6th Grade at École Vision Terrebonne would spend 1 hour learning and experiencing various programming activities. These activities would differ according to age and ability. Every coding class would be accompanied by a Tech Ambassador: a student in grade 4-6 that is part of the Coding Club and that shows promise in both coding as well as teaching. Many of the graduate students that were ambassadors have continued their high school education in a STEM-related concentration.
