Teaching English Language Arts

English Language arts is such a broad term, as it encompasses so many different concepts that students have to learn including reading, writing, and decoding to name a few. It is important not only to teach these concepts to students, but also to teach students different skills and strategies in order to help students perfect these concepts.

It is important to remember, as an English Language teacher, that every student learns at a different pace, and that it may take longer for students with learning difficulties and disabilities to grasp certain aspects of the English language. It is up to the teacher to know every student's way of learning in order to find the best way to teach these students.

One of my favorite ways to differentiate in the English Language Arts classroom is to integrate physical activity in the lessons. Having students moving in the classroom can really change the dynamic and help students grasp the lesson, as well as help the kinesthetic learners understand what is being taught.
